Condition assessment
Before any maintenance or conservation work is carried out on a work of art, it is important to assess its overall condition. Our conservators carry out a thorough assessment of the art work to determine whether there is any damage that needs repairing or any cleaning to be done to improve its condition.
Framing
A frame is an integral part of the work of art, and it is generally recommended to retain the original frame chosen by the artist. If the frame is damaged or needs maintenance, conservation work can be carried out on it. If the work of art does not have a frame, our framer can make a new frame in accordance with the owner’s wishes.
Inventory
Drawing up an inventory is a vital part of managing an art collection and scheduling any conservation work that needs doing. Its purpose is to establish what works the customer owns, where they are located and what sort of condition they are in. The conservator makes an inventory at the location of the art works.
Conservation
The role of conservation is twofold. Besides repairing existing damage, our expert conservators also prevent future deterioration of the works of art, maintaining them in top condition. Our conservation team are specialised in many fields, including paintings, frames, paper-based works, sculptures, objects, textiles, furniture and wall surfaces.
Our conservation services include picking up the works of art that need conservation work and storing them properly. On completion of the work, we provide a written conservation report and recommendations for storage or display, if required.
Installation
Our professional fine art handlers hang works of art in customers’ homes or business premises. If required, our conservator can also design a new hanging arrangement, in consultation with the customer.
